The old man that ran the junk yard i used to go to had this tractor / fork lift/ bulldozer/excavator he built outta scrap parts and a slant 6! He used it to lift a motor out of a car and into the bed of my truck. He used it for dang near everything from stacking cars to crushing refrigerators lol

There are still lots of early Hemi's power water pump in the old west.
The /6's were used as stationary & pump engines for years. They could be left unattended & run for years with basic maintenance. They were almost bullet proof.
Used in some old Gleaner combines too.

Slant 6 introduced 1959 torsion bar front suspension 1957 called it torsion-sire. They put it on all their models

With a gearbox, you could make it hit wither RPM with the slant idling.
I cannot disagree. They really are an engineering marvel.

Can’t remember about the slant 6 but I often thought laying a 6 banger on it’s side and using the lifter covers for a dry sump engine and having 6 one barrel carbs bolted one to each intake port would make a cool open engine hot rod. Probably a few other problems to overcome. But if would look cool.
My friends 38 Plymouth with a slant. Neat car.

It's automatic with a Gear Vendor overdrive. Somewhere around 300 HP

Old man had a 1953 Buick roadmaster with a 2 speed dynaflow transmission and a straight 8. Exhaust manifold was a poor design. They cracked he put 3 manifolds on that car when the 3rd one cracked he traded it off. That car was massive needed to pack a lunch to walk from the hood to the trunk.
Bet it was a nice car. Would be even better if you still had it. Probably a pop can now.

Ya or part of the fender on my dart. LOL. The thing had chrome for days. All the window trim inside, sides of the seat, trim on the pedals, door panels everywhere they could. That’s actually the engine I thought would look cool in an open engine hot rod layed on its side 8 carbs would be a nightmare for linkage and tuning but would sure look cool if done right.
There was a 70ish Dart in Kijiji last year. Full cage, tubbed etc etc with a /6 with turbos.

Ya know those in line engines make a lot of torque. When you get’m cammed up with some compression and headers they sound pretty good. Would be interesting to fool around with but too many projects on the go as it is.
Years ago, a neighbor of a good friend had an altered with a slant in it. It sounded awesome with the zoomie style headers on it & was really fast when he tested it in the back of the neighborhood. I wish I'd gotten pictures back then.
If I cannot get the old flat head that is my project truck running, I have thought about putting a slant in it.
