Oil galley plugs - cast iron or brass?

I'm reassembling the slant for my truck. When I took it apart the oil galley plugs were either steel or whatever the galvanized iron is, used in pipe fittings. The new ones I got from NAPA were brass. Dies this make any difference?

Also is teflon tape OK to seal the threads or should it be pipe dope?

As long as they are the correct pipe threads, it doesn't really matter what they are made of. I use thread sealant on mine, but you really shouldn't need it with pipe threads.
But why take chances....jus sayin....
