What replacement crank dampners are 340 folks using these days? I want a real good quality one, for street / strip and trying to avoid the $500.00 price tag. Any recommendations?
Thanks

anything for the pre 70 people (pass) timing mark ??

You can buy an ATI for well under $500. Same for BHJ.

Note that this balancer is for INTERNALLY BALANCED cranks. Late model 340 and 360 engines are externally balanced.

Good reminder for everyone,..yes, I'm running a 72 with steel crank. internal balanced

I like my ATI Super Damper, works great, and its rebuildable....kinda pricy, but nice.

ATI Super damper. I've said this before - ran one on the 4 cylinder mini-stock I raced. Running an RPM range of 5000 - 8500 at race speeds all season. At the end of the year there was next to no wear on the main and rod bearings, and you know how these 4 cylinders vibrate. That's why I spent the money for one on the 340 I built last year.

Rattler has had great reviews but its a weird principle. Cant go wrong with a fluid style damper.

I purchased the speedmaster fluid dampener and it looks like a really good unit. Fluid dampener knockoff but bewarned mine had alignment problems it's not a bolt on and go you will need to space out alternator pulley and water pump one half inch to a line

If I had to do it again I would consider the pioneer it seems to be a direct fit and highly regarded.

I have the TCI Rattler on my 408. Good unit. Makes a funny noise at shut down. Other than that, Excellent!
