What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Had to get the slant off the picker so I had room to work in the garage. Had a spare slant k member in the shed so I built a cradle for it. Took a bit of reworking after the initial idea but she’s set off in the corner now out of my way.

Installed some DEI spark plug boot protectors, some taylor cable spark plug wire separators and also some new factory style plug wire separators that go on the valve covers, i cant stand that the valve cover separators are a white plastic, so i scuffed them up and painted them a semi gloss black to match the other plug wire separators. It was time consuming and tedious but got it done. Took me forever to be happy with the plug wire routing

Beautiful work. I know this will mess things up, but #5 and #7 wires are not ever supposed to run parallel, to avoid crossfire. Just in case you notice a "miss" or something.

Went to the machine shop today to check out my heads after they had them disassembled and cleaned, but before they started the valve job. There is a huge casting void under one of the exhaust valve seats, and hardly any seat material. It is a wonder it sealed at all. Also someone ground the chamber, again presumably because of a casting flaw? As I said, there was no evidence that the heads had ever been removed, so could this have been a factory fix? Fortunately I have two more heads, so we will pick the best one and use it instead.

Well I put my bottom seat cover for my 66 Barracuda today from Legendary Auto Interiors.
I should have put the bluster kit on first!! It looks to flat. I will have to take it apart later but it does sit flat with no wrinkles. Too bad!!!!

Cleaned up all the pistons while I am waiting for my heads to be done. Cylinder walls look good with very little ridge. It is standard bore, and the pistons are .045 in the hole, so compression will likely be about 8.5:1

Ah I see.... I just beat the **** out of mine with a BFH until it fell out... :poke: He should try my method...
I originally borrowed a friend's kit to work on a C body, I learned the bar remover was the only took that works for those C body cars. Wedged a UCA bushing in one tool, used another tool as a template and made it what I thought was comically big, only to find out I had 1/2" of clearance. Knowing it would work on my Dart, I got my own kit.

Which, again, is exactly what you don't do.
There is a ton of pressure on torsion bars, and it is very important to keep the torsion bars free of any scuffing, gouging, etc. That is what the TB tool is for. Damaging the torsion bar/bars in any way can cause catastrophic failure.
But, again, what do I know.

I didnt gouge my tb's, I also didnt use a bfh it was sarcasm. I was actually able to get them out with my hands and a lot of cussing...

Truthfully didnt know what the tool was though, I know some people make them.

I'm just pulling your chain. We were all rookies once. Mine just happens to be 45 years ago.
:steering:

This is kind of a milestone for me.
I finally have almost finished installing my new front suspension. Just have to grease some joints and hook up brake lines.
I had to see what it looks like on 4 wheels.
It rolls very easy!
