Well for some updates I think and I hope I figured out my issue with the pistons being broken. After changing the 585 coils out with the 514's that other 5.3 didnt break any pistons. It was a sludge monster though with 350k on it. I didnt get to hammer on it too much before the bottom end came out of that one lol. But the test was to see if I lost any pistons when I hammered on it and it didnt seem to be an issue!
I got the 6.0 apart that is my donor motor. It had a "rod knock" when I got the truck as a parts truck. Come to find out it actually had a broken rod!! Luckily it broke right at the crank and didnt hurt anything! I already had a new crank for the new build turning the 6.0 into the 6.1 so I'll use the crank that came out of it to fix one of the 5.3s back to a running motor again. Then off to a new dyno!
