Question about choke unloader adjustment 71 Dart 2gv Rochester carburetor when I hold the throttle under the hood wide open it will move the valve but when I use the accelerator pedal full throttel it does not open choke valve, tips on adjusting it so I can activate it from the inside? Thinking it might be the cable adjustment

you probably set the cable with the fast idle cam engaged...confirm proper cable adjustment with choke open on idle lobe

Sounds like the pedal isn't getting full throttle at the carb. Inspect the pedal and linkage under the dash for floor mats, carpet etc. You might need to adjust the cable at the carb. Does the carb have unloader/clear flood linkage?

Yes it set with fast idle cam engaged. It works right when I work the throttle by hand but when I use the pedal it doesn't work properly I I going to look at the carpeting and make sure that the pedal goes all the way down to the floor

Thanks i will check pedal and carpet

Disconnect the Carburetor to trans linkage at the carburetor . Have someone hold the throttle to the floor inside the car. Loosen the cable adjuster nut while holding the carburetor wide open pull the cable all the way back , Hold it and tighten the cable.

This method will put the Carburetor wide open from in the car but not over pull on the linkage.

After the cable is adjusted Have the person in the car hold the peddle to the floor While you hold the transmission linkage all the way back. After turning the adjuster in if you need to ,Turn the adjustment out so the slot just slides back on the carb. You may have to take it on an off and make adjustments a couple times so it just slips on.

Now you cable is as tight as it can be and the trans linkage is not holding it back.

Most times its the trans linkage preventing wide open throttle

This only works if the car is correct OEM parts. If you have 2bbl linkage with a 4bbl Carburetor there is a part to correct the geometry, As long as the Geometry is correct the rods can be made.

you dont want it set on the fast idle cam it needs to be set choke open on idle lobe

Are you saying I should do my cable adjustment after the car is warmed up to idle speed I just want to make sure I understand it properly thanks for your help

yes or manually by hand make sure its not on the fast idle lobe...do this with the cable already slack so you can ensure the throttle is all the way forward
