Cold starting

Disconnect the Carburetor to trans linkage at the carburetor . Have someone hold the throttle to the floor inside the car. Loosen the cable adjuster nut while holding the carburetor wide open pull the cable all the way back , Hold it and tighten the cable.

This method will put the Carburetor wide open from in the car but not over pull on the linkage.

After the cable is adjusted Have the person in the car hold the peddle to the floor While you hold the transmission linkage all the way back. After turning the adjuster in if you need to ,Turn the adjustment out so the slot just slides back on the carb. You may have to take it on an off and make adjustments a couple times so it just slips on.

Now you cable is as tight as it can be and the trans linkage is not holding it back.

Most times its the trans linkage preventing wide open throttle

This only works if the car is correct OEM parts. If you have 2bbl linkage with a 4bbl Carburetor there is a part to correct the geometry, As long as the Geometry is correct the rods can be made.
