Sounds like all the linkage is hooked up yet, so, I wonder if the detent ball and spring popped out from be hind the rooster comb on the valve body? That is what gives the "feel" of each gear.
Dang it, I was hoping for somewhere OUTSIDE the transmission. If all else fails, and the linkage appears to be working, I'll have to check that. Be a good time to adjust bands and change the filter too I guess
