1969 Dodge Dart Swinger clean up
All in the details. Engine boss touched up where the lifting chain was bolted on, leaving a bare spot front and back of the boss that would have started the rust machine.
Another shot of the adjustable roller rockers and beehive valve springs. Rockers have CC on them, identifying them as Competition Cams units. Later versions that are bushed.
I used $$$ cover gaskets on my Bee and they didn't seal worth a sh.. ! Back to old school cork and no sealant. It's what came off this thing and they weren't leaking, so why tempt fate!?
Just lightly snugged up so they can slowly take a set to seal.
Why I take lots of pictures. Just makes life easy when there's a 50/50 chance you get it right.
I also marked the distributors base location so I don't have to play with timing this thing.
Covers on, spark plugs in, distributor and coil back in place, as well as the breather and plug wire looms.
Don't forget some sealant on the alternator bracket/water pump housing bolts. They are in the wet passage.
When putting the fan assembly on, spin it and check the fan and pulley for wobble. Just like tracking an airplane propeller you can control the belt pulley wobble pending which of the 4 bolts you snug first.
Just the transmission lines, distributor cap/wires, carburetor and trans kick down cable left to go and it's ready to put back in the car. Oh yah and those damn headers...
