Do cars with the 4 speed manual gearbox hump use the same "molded" carpet as an automatic or 3 speed manual car? I searched the archive but didn't see a clear answer. Thanks.

Floor shift manual is different than auto floor or column. Not sure about 3 on the tree manual.

I do not remember any such difference when I ordered carpet for my 69 console floor auto. Molded with mass backing.

I could be totally wrong! But even with the auto setup the carpet had to be trimmed for the console!

What year and model?

Cars with a four speed (and 3 speed floor shift) use different carpet sets than auto floorshift or either type of column shifts (auto/3 on the tree). The tunnels are molded differently. All will need trimming. Look at the catalogs. 2 different part numbers.

There are two different sets if your car has a 4 or 3 speed hump like in these pictures below. The front carpet will be molded for this hump added to the floor.

Carpet kits come in manual ( floor shift) and automatic ( column shift ) I recently bought a carpet kit for a floor shift and there was definitely more material for the ‘hump’

Automatics (floor or column shift) would (should) have same carpet. Only diff is that you have to 'slice open' the floor/console version and the column shift app installs as unmolested.
