I've spent a stupid amount of time on the interweb trying to find one of these. Looking to buy or find a source. This is NOT the big wide wingnut that holds the spare and jack base in place, but rather the wing nut that goes on top and holds the spare tire board and the metal cup down. I'm putting in a new trunk mat and don't want to have the wingnut and bolt end poke a hole in it. Hardware store wing nuts have the wings sticking way up. This wing nut looks like a factory air cleaner nut, but bigger.

Not for sale... just a photo of what I think you are looking for

Something I did for my air cleaner nut. Found one that looked right but it was too small a thread. I took a punch and with a proper sized socket to back it up, punched the hole larger, then tapped it to the correct thread.

Did you all know why the lower wing nut is that large?

To make it tight. The spare holds the fuel tank straps from pulling the steel bracket through the tin floor. Keep it tight and no jumps with a full tank without the spare in place. Towed a couple A-bodies years back that lost the tank.

Just something to think about next time you fill up. LOL

There are a bazillion places to get the lower wing nut, you'd think there would be one place to get the upper wing nut!

They each only have one place to find them. You'll find them either in lower or upper position.
Not on a 67 Dart! Single strap runs left to right
Wonder why they changed that in 1968?
