Needle and seat could be stuck and not closing with float.

I took it out a couple times before figuring out how to properly adjust it. The needle and seat (this thing) moves freely. The float sight plug was full of gas, gas was everywhere lol. Cleaned it all up and went inside...

Went back outside and realized I left my key in the on position... think I drained my battery quite a bit. The car cranked and would almost fully turn over a couple times. Came back in for the night. Im going to change the plugs, let it dry over night and try again tomorrow morning.

I also need to make sure I can get my throttle cable to fully open the carb, it felt like it was leaving about 1/5in or so left to be opened. Maybe I have to move the pedal up to make sure I can get it to have a touch more travel.

Look closely at needle if something gets in there it won’t ever close. It’s common on Holley’s for them to stick. You can tap on the top of float with plastic handle of screw driver and it will sometimes unstick

Thanks!

I took both the front and back ones out, and the little piece at the bottom moved freely on each one.

I'll take them out again and check again though. Also will try tapping on them.

You know, that is not a Holley, right? It's a "Quick Fuel" knock-off.

Yes a quick fuel knock off. But the quick fuel, brawler are also owned by Holley.

I guess its kind of like calling a Lincoln Navigator a Ford Expedition lol.

Oh well... that's news to me. Thanks.

Yea I dont know when holley acquired them. I just know they are all owned by holley now. The brawler seems to have good reviews though. One of the Brawler reviews it was within a couple hp on the dyno pulls as the carbs that are double the price.

Carb came in early. So I'm going to clean it all up, go to factory specs (when I find them) then install it and see if it will start...

I am clueless on holleys... the guy I got it from said he could never tune it properly or get it to run right on his 318.

And you traded your Eddy AVS2 for it ?
Wow....This is going to be interesting.

Lol I dont have any credit cards.

Why do you say that though?
Not sure why people don't like the Holley, or Holley-clone carbs. I find them much easier to work on than any other type. Of course maybe this is because my 1st car had a Holley "780" #3310 on it. That was in 1973. I have the same (newer) #3310 Holley on my 340. No problems at all, runs great basically "out of the box".

Why do you say that though?

You traded away pretty much the perfect carb for your car. That's all I'm going to say on this.

Holley jets, power valves, pump cams, metering blocks, gaskets, come to mind. Good luck !

Changed the plugs... they were all soaked... assuming from being flooded...broke a plug wire while i was changing the plugs... I need to get new wires anyways...

tried starting it... Soooo close!!! It wants to start, and started a couple times for 1-2 seconds before dying again.

Floats are both moving up and down, set to gas half way in the sight plugs.. (rear is empty because I messed with the float to move it down a touch) needles/seats were freely moving When I checked them, installed my fuel pressure guage. Hooked up the electric choke.

Trying to figure out what else to check... without it started.

Charging my battery right now...

Even though you "set" your floats, the fuel may still be getting past the seat. Turn on your electric pump and look down into the carb. if you see ANY fuel dripping/running out of the boosters, put in new needle seat assemblies. Doesn't matter if someone said "they're new". They are junk. I've had brand new ones not work.

Boom!

Got em! I had to get this today, because my daughter asked if we could drive the purple car to the park today...

Edit- the car is running rich, and I feel like its louder haha.
