Then give that one to your neighbor, and get one that works. Unless you enjoy replacing plug wires.

Yes sir!

I need to get new wires, I think I'll go with... black ones. Then ill put 90 degree boots on them like I used to have on them and not have the spark plug wires problems...

Dumb *** alert... @Johnny Dart, I know you're over there shaking your head at me and wanting to revoke my mopar card even more now :poke::rofl:

First "drive" and impressions. Havent done any WOT pulls, just came to the park

Car is more responsive with the brawler than it was with the AVS2. Maybe its because I've learned more on how to tune the brawler than I did with the AVS2 or maybe its the plugs... Most likely its because its the carb.

Idle is now closer to the 950 rpm mark, before it was closer to the 850ish.

I know you did not ask, but: When the engine is running, you should just see the gas sloshing at the bottom of the bowl sight glass(es). That's how you adjust the float level on a "Holley". If they are too high (as it appears in one of your pics) it will be pig-rich almost all of the time.

No No, That happened a loooooonnnng time ago.

PS: The Edelbrock has an idle screw to the right when facing it.

Touche'. You know I bring back the fun memories of your young hot rodding days. :poke::welcome:

Yes I adjusted the idle on the edelbrock a couple of times, it liked to idle a little lower though. At least for where it was "tuned"

Yes its been running a little rich. I just watched the videos that holley puts out and read the directions for the brawler and it said factory float level you should have 1/2 of the sight plug filled. When running it seems like both sight plugs are about 1/3 filled. The car doesn't start nearly as quickly or as easily as it did with the edelbrock, but I probably have a bit more fine tuning to do on the brawler.

I'm a fan of Taylor wires. They always treated me well. You should have years of good service with that purchase.

You over estimate how long parts and things last in my car lol. Either changed out or user error... usually changed out because of user error... lol

The car hates starting with the holley, I have no clue why. I have to really feather the throttle and it sounds as if all cylinders aren't firing... to much gas in the cylinders? Preventing the pistons from compressing?

Need different plugs and wires? Anyone ever try the platinum or iridium plugs.

Idle sounds good, about 850-900 now. It's definitely a bit rich as you can smell it through the exhaust. Both bowls are pretty close to the 1/3 mark, I will lower them a little.

Any ideas on start up with the brawler...

Edited carb name for punctuation purposes...

Did you look down into the carb when it's idling? Any gas running/dripping from boosters? I mentioned this before. If this is happening, it might still idle. But, it is still flooding the engine. It will happen for a short time after engine is off. Thus, flooding the damn thing for the next start up.

Also, is the choke plate closed when cold?

Choke plate closed. I think its flooding it too. I moved the float bowls down.

I'll start it here in a bit, my daughter is sick and the wife is trying to put her down for a nap right now.

As for spark plugs, avoid Platinum like a COVID party. Platinum has some awesome characteristics; none of which make for a good spark plug. Iridium plugs are fairly decent. Both Platinum & Iridium were created to meet EPA-mandated 120k mile tune-up schedules. I have found Pulstar Plugs to be awesome. I discovered them in their 1st generation (1G) incarnation back in 2008. Since then they dabbled with Platinum & Iridium (2G). Currently, they have found a way to combine the awesome spark potential of their 1G with the durability of their 2G plugs for the 3G version. I have 3G Pulstars in my Jeep GC. Generically speaking, a good NGK standard plug with a powerful coil will get you an effective spark.

Nothing... this has more cfm and more adjustability.

Not to pile on, not my intention. But whoever told you you needed more cfm and adjustability than a 650 AVS2 doesn't have a clue.

Holleys can be tough if you don't know what you are doing with them.(especially being clueless with them, like you said you are). Hopefully you get it figured out.

Is it to late to get the Eddy back ?

I just took out the ngk plugs, they ran like my automates and champions... I can't tell a difference between them all.

I think my carb is flooding on the start.

I chose to want to go to a Holley (brawler) and no one told me to switch to it for any purposes. Imo the brawler is more adjustable with 4 corner idle adjustment, ability to switch out metering blocks, dual feed fuel line, etc. The AVS2 is a good carb though.

Thanks for the good luck.

Oink oink... Pig Fuckin Rich... tightened down all of the fuel hoses.

Here's the fuel bowls.

I think im going to need a 72 pack of spark plugs...

And if you're wondering.... it sounds like a slow rate machine gun when trying to start it... although 10x a loud lol

Cleaned spark plugs...with torch, scrubbing and some brake cleaner... no more soot. Also got some new ones for later.

Took carb apart almost all the way. To get to the back of the power valve to check to see the gasket I have to take off the metering blocks... I think to do that I have to take off the base plate. Ill mess with it tomorrow.

I need to get some smaller jets (74 and 83 in it now) and some new gaskets, these gaskets were toast... there looks to be little pieces of gasket all around. So tomorrow ill clean all of that off as well.

I dont think I have any patients tomorrow so if I'm lucky it'll be an early day...

Of course you know, my brotherfromanothermother, that these would make a fabulous bouquet for your Most Understanding Wife. Monkey them up on coat hanger stems and wow her with your undying affection!

Buy a small hand held sandblaster from harbor freight to clean those plugs quick.
