Thoughts and best wishes for a former Marine
My 81 year old father-in-law is facing post-operative complications from a bowel resection.
This is the second thing he has faced in the last few months. He fought off a wicked total body infection starting in November that took 24 hr infusions of antibiotics for 6 weeks to kick...only to be followed by a lesion on his colon this past month that required surgery and removal of 10” of his colon. He was doing ok for a few days, but now he has another infection happening and it is becoming life threatening.
This man served his Country as a Marine starting in 1967 when he left his 2 year old son and newborn daughter (now my wife) to serve. He dedicated his life to honor and serving. He later became a graduate of the Wharton Businesss School earning his MBA. He spent decades of his life after that helping mentally disadvantaged children become better capable for independent life through his work at Elwin Institute.
Today, he is fighting this latest battle in order to live more and be there for my daughter as the proud man he is.
Please, if you have a few moments to spare in your thoughts...spend some of them wishing him well on his path to recovery.
His name is Leonard Breitfeller and he is one of the finest men I have ever known.
