The 70lb limit is meant more for carriers and less for the mail handlers.
You guys had equipment to handle it, I had a canvas bag.
When I ever had anything that weighed more than a few pounds, I cut it from the park and loop and dropped it later.
It was impossible to shove so many packages into a mail bag and you certainly couldn't place anything heavy on a 2 mile park and loop.

Not all of us. When I started in Jersey we had no parcel sorter....I was the guy loading the belts for the clerks. We also had to unload trailers by hand. Sears catalogs....good times. Dip **** that loaded the trailer put the first stop on the nose of the trailer..so I had to empty 70% of the trailer to get to our junk....guessing the excruciating back pain I am feeling must have came from.....
