I took pics of the sides of hood to show how it was from the factory. You can’t see it but on drivers side of brace where hood latch brace has over spray. None on other side! We had factory pics and that’s how it came!

Original rear window decals

Yes they are! I am going to remove those, but am keeping the ones on the quarter glass. They are US nationals 1971, Empire nationals 71, and Div 1 member 1971

Its getting there Mike looks great. I don't know if this was brought up but is that the original decal on the rear. Should it be "Duster 340"

Thanks! A ways to go still. That is the original tail stripe and decal.

I am 100% certain that is how it came . The idle setting decal supposedly only came in blue for late 71 builds. That decal is original too and is green.

I have owned many 71 Duster 340's. They all had the "Duster 340" decal on the back. I never saw a 70 - 72 340 Duster without it having the 340 on the back. Unless it was removed for some reason for a new decal replacement. They got scratched up very easily when leaning in the trunk area. The stripe could have been damaged and replaced.

Odd thing with those "340 Duster Decals". I saw a survivor car at Carlisle and it only had the 'Duster cloud" decal. My belief is early to mid 1971 used the "Duster 340" decals from 1970 until they ran out and the running change was the "Duster cloud" decal. My car is late build July 9th SPD and has the blue decal on the air cleaner as well as "Duster cloud" decal, ribbed trunk, side by side horns ala 1972, blue engine, bumper slots and the vent from the gas tank that goes into the engine compartment sticks 90 degrees up up as opposed to more straight as it's designed for the charcoal canister. In fact the firewall has the indent for the canister but one was never installed but the dimples for where it would be drilled can be seen.

Yep, just like what color the engine was painted. Everyone wants to debate it. They did not care what color, what sticker went where, if it had over spray here or there. They were building cars pumping them out the door. Get it close and ship it. These cars were made to go beat on for cheap. That decal looks like the one on my brothers 1970 Duster that I remember. Could I be wrong... of course. I don't have a picture. Mopar did not throw anything away. So yea. You guys may have seen it all, or maybe not.

I learn something every day on this site. Nothing ever surprises me. I never personally saw any 71 Duster 340's with just the dust cloud. But if Mike said his dads came that way it must have. Its a first for me

My body guy is ready to put door panels back on. It’s amazing how nerve-racking it is when you are cleaning 50 year old parts that are basically cardboard! Took picks of all markings, and all of the part numbers. Had M’s on two of the pieces. Maybe that guys name was Mike too! Lol
