I'm not much help with electrical woes. I'm in midst of redoing our 67 dash harness. You need to get a factory schematic and trace out the problem circuit/wires. Heres a screen shot of our 67 cuda schematic. It looks to share the same style plastic housing connector. I'll get pics of my connector.

Thank you! I appreciate it. I have the factory service manual docs and a Haynes manual. I’ve gone through the paths and replaced all the wiring that was faulty and replaced every wire associated with the middle connector. When I remove the green field wire though at the alternator that goes to the Voltage Regulator, the amp drop goes away. I replaced both the blue and green wires to the alternator, the connector that houses the blue and green wires to the regulator, the voltage regulator and the alternator. Like you said though, I need to go back to square one and retrace the wiring.
