TCI 727 Torqueflite race trans (pn. 890-112000)

Dear lord there is a lot of miss-information on this thread from folks that have probably never had an 8" converter.

Yes, you can drive a "5k" converter on the street...and NO, it is not too much if you have a good converter and a properly setup car.

For what its worth: My street/strip Barracuda has an 8" converter that stalls a little over 5k behind my 408....it pushes my car to low 10's in the 1/4.....AND it can drive down the street at 2000-2500RPM without issues. I drive my car all over town on the weekends that I'm not racing....heck, ~ 50% of the time I drive to the race track, compete in an event clicking off 6.4x's in the 1/8 mile and then drive home!

I guess the real question is, what is street-able to you? This varies from person to person.
