TCI 727 Torqueflite race trans (pn. 890-112000)

5k is even high for the strip; unless you're shift completes at over 5k. That's okay, just shift at 8k and you'll be just fine.
5k too high for the strip....WHAT?!?! Have you been to a drag strip? Almost every fast (or relativly fast) NA car I know at the strip has at LEAST a 4500 stall (most are 5000-5500)

I rebuilt a C4 for a guy one time. He called and said it didn't work; wouldn't even move. He said he revved it and nothing. Had a new torque converter he bought off a buddy... So he brings the trans back along with the converter. I said where's the converter? He picks it up out of his trunk with one hand; like an 8" donut...5k stall...His old worn out 302 two barrel couldn't even rev high enough to hit stall.
There must have been something else wrong with the trans. "rev high enough to hit stall"....I don't think you have any idea how a torque converter works.
What rpm do you think a 5k stall should engage?
My 5k converter makes my car creep at idle, leaves traffic lights at 1500-2000rpm.....but if I put my foot down it jumps straight to 5200rpm.
