Audrey's 1965 Barracuda project

-
My wife want this exact color on her Barracuda. Anyone knows if this is an original color or not? And if so which one? To me, it looks like a silver metallic with a little bit of champange tint to it. Can't really match it with one of the original colors that I can find on the web.
Photo is taken by a friend of my wife, it was for sale in L.A recently. (And her friend also talked to the owner, he didn't know either). It does look good with the red interior.

It looks like (or similar to) the buffed silver used in 65. I don’t remember if was a special order or not

That looks similar to the grey I used. Paint is from a 2013 Dodge Dart. PDM, Mineral Gray Metallic. It was similar to the original grey just had more metallic in the paint.

It does seem to have a slight champange tint to it though, and thats what my wife likes. (or is it the CA sun?) I like yours Keith!

Mine is AA9 chrysler gray metallic. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have of it completed. It was an overcast day and looks completely different in the sun (much lighter). The champagne look could be the effects of the sun.

Thanks guys. Love your cars! We decided to go look at new cars and find a grey/champange color that she likes and get the color code from the dealer. Chevy has a nice light champange. Not stuck on original.

My neighbors 66 Dart GT, repainted in Viper Silver Dollar. No champagne, but looks great.

Have you examined the hidden areas under the front cowl? Most every ABody of this vintage will need at least a partial rebuild of this area because the drain holes get plugged up over the years. It's a lot of work but should not be overlooked.

I have not, just a quick look, will do that now, thanks for the tip!

This is an old rust repair, I suspect this reinforcement that the parking brake cable goes thru is cut off, looks like it should meet the firewall? Kinda the same deal on the passenger side. Anyone got a picture of this area so I can see what it looks like?

Last two photos are passenger side.

Great photos, and I see that the whole edge on the lower firewall is missing on my picture, gonna start with removing all the undercoating and see what I have to do to make it right....thanks so much!

I checked inside the cowl today, no damage, just some light surface rust. Not sure how I can get in there and treat it.

Should there really be rivets under the chromelist here or is this an old repair?

Yes, weird, I assumed they didn't use rivets from the factory... the quarters looks like they never been changes, the wheel lip on both side are changed, and a small patch behind the wheel, but thats it. I'll drill them and weld.

Yea I would remove them. Mine didn't have the rivets, looks like a panel hold for a repair job maybe??? but the spot welds look solid and original to the car... strange

Driver side reinforcement fixes, not perfect looking but will work. In hindsight it would have been better to remove it make a complete new one instead of patching up the old one.

Im impressed, not only by the car, but all the helpful responses. I bought my ‘65 in similar condition, only worse.
Hoping to move forward on it this summer. Want it to run and move first.

Nice! Seems very similar to mine. Same quarter repairs. I have a rotisserie also, would be nice to use it, but I'm gonna put my Challenger in it soon. Have som smaller rust repairs, and I'm gonna paint the inside myself, then off to the paintshop. Hopefully in a few months.
Reading your thread now. Nice work!
