Yea I have done that a few times it doesn't seem to me like im getting a good flow for instance there was one time today I was letting it warm up and I was waiting for the tstat to open the gauge inside got up to 210 and the water in the radiator was cold like literally I could dip my finger in it and it was room temperature cold. The top radiator hose was cold. And the water didn't seem to be churning at all. After I shut it down the temp of the water (in the radiator) went up I guess that was water coming from the block floating up. It just seems like the thermostat never opened. The next couple times it did the same but eventually it did the rad hose and the water in the radiator got hot but the interior gauge was reading 220 before then. The mechanical temp gauge in the radiator never got above 180. But the water in the block could have been alot hotter it its not circulating.
