Best Cam for a 340

-
That Crane Cam has a proud price tag. I'd use that with 1.6 rockers on very well ported heads on at least a 360+ cube engine & 4.10's for a real nice & nasty street machine.
A 4 inch arm even better. Drop the cams rpm range down a tad and add a good bit of torque.

In a 440.... The 284 cam makes peak torque around 3500-4000RPm and peak HP around 5600RPM. Even at low RPM's it is making gobbs of torque. We started the initial pulls at 2500 and then at 3,000 after that and as I recall it was already over 400ft/lbs and over 300hp. I've run this cam twice and love it. REally flat and broad powerband and mild idle.

The 3800 Dynamic stall convertor would flash to 4300rpm behind the 440 in my Newport.
Still have this clip on youtube;

Bigfoot, you disagree with the dyno results of 2 engines?

Am I missing something? 2 engines. Same cam. 2 dynos. Pretty cut and fricken dry bud.

Best cam for my '71 340 Cuda s/strip car was the DC. 590 solid sft, along with a Holley Strip Dominator, 850DP, 1.75" race hedman hdrs, 4.30's and a 4200 stall, was awesome on the street and strip:thumbsup:..made 65hp more over the .484 hydro and 750DP that was in/on it prior according to mph/weight
