Weight loss and perseverance

First off, congratulations.

I'm not overweight, but I have noticed a few things in my life that I feel are worth noting. I've been fortunate enough to travel quite a bit and have noticed eating habits and food wherever I have gone. To preface this...I'm not a doctor...and might be crazy or stupid.

I've noticed three major differences between us and the rest of the world. I don't know which one is MORE important, but I think they all play a part.

1. Corn!!!! Everything we eat has corn in it. Read the label. This is how we fatten up livestock!

2. Hormones! Girls around the world don't get their periods at 11yrs old like here. Also transgender issues aren't as prevalent.

3. This is a big one. Portion control. In the US we eat to get FULL! This isn't necessary. Other cultures eat to not be hungry. My wife is from Central Europe. She would never super size it...or order an extra thing off the menu because she "can eat it". You just need to eat till you're not hungry...not till you are full.

I apologise if I'm way off with this. I think that a lot of this is a cultural problem here. We are all victims to it, to one degree or another.

You're not off at all. Our food system is driven by control of market and greed. Even " organic" beef only has to graze grass for 1 week in its life to qualify. I've been on keto for over 3 years. I started it to drop 10 pounds I couldn't ride off on the mountain bike. Im 6'4" and 220 pounds. When i gained the 10 and went keto, after 4 days I was dropping almost a pound every other day. Gotta get past the sugar and carb craving, takes a few days. Faster if your exercising. I then lost another 17 pounds I didn't want to lose, keto really killed my appetite. I get my blood work done frequently, cholesterol still at 160, BP is stellar too. The biggest keto benefit by far for me was actually unexpected, inflammation was markedly reduced so all of my old injuries and aches are drastically reduced and I take far less advil. Ive also accomplished this life style with no gall bladder too which takes some adjusting with foods that promote bile, and spreading out my fat intake throughout the day. Can't say enough about coconut oil, it's the food with the most MCT in it which is an amazing fat. The only one that requires little to no digestion to be converted into energy and the only fat that spans the blood/ brain barrier- instant brain food.
