I have used antifreeze and the non dissolving packing peanuts with some success. I am curious if it works for anyone else or how they get it to work better.
Make the entrance hole to the bucket a couple inches below the lip of the bucket.
As far as spring traps go... superglue a "Sugarbaby" to the trigger. No reloading and they go for it like crack cocaine.
