I recently picked up this 360 It has some odd heads they don't have any casting numbers. They have the time stamp markings and some random numbers but no casting numbers. One has 15h and the other is 12 h I believe buts that's all the numbers I see. They appear to be smog heads they have the smog ports under the exhaust ports. Im thinking maybe a factory warranty head or something?

They may have casting numbers on the bottom side. You'll never know unless you take um off.

I thought of that too. But haven't pulled them yet. I've never seen one without them on the intake runner. I guess I'm gonna have to pull them. I plan on I pulling them anyway to inspect the bores and pistons

That motor would be splattered all over my shop by now. Get with it. What's wrong with you? lol

I may start on it tonight I want to know what these heads are lol. More than likely they are just run of the mill 360 1.88 valve heads. I don't think any of the smog heads where "good" heads and these are clearly smog heads. But I'm really happy with the 596 heads that are on my dart 360 and they are smog heads so it is what it is.

My opinion, the 360 smog head has more potential than what some may think

Randall's are like these and they flow in the 260's after some massaging. Check out the thread 'intro to a port job' and compare.

pull those heads and find flat tops and a 4” crank. I can’t wait. Let’s go!!! open her up already. Slap that airgap I traded ya on there with a 750dp and let it rip.

Well to release some tension I got it torn down tonight. Over all im happy. It has apparently been bored over the walls look good they need some cleaning but overall I will run them without any hesitation. It has the low compression h405cp pistons which im ok with ill run em! I am a little concerned about the bore size vs the piston size the pistons look to small to me. The piston clearance looks very big like you can see the top ring big!?! Im not sure what's going on there. Im gonna have to take some careful measurements and check it out. The cam looks to me like it's never been ran if it has it wasn't much you can see goobs of break-in lube everywhere. They appear to me to be hydraulic lifters. There is alot of crud that needs to be cleaned out. Im not sure if that was knocked in during intake removal or was already there? And lastly the heads. They are small valve 915 heads. I didn't even knew that they made them. @MOPAROFFICIAL was dead on tho! Lol here are the pics enjoy!

Is that crud on the pistons or are they pitted? Almost looks like that engine had bad detonation

How close to the deck are the pistons tdc?

Its crud. There is a small pile of rust/crud in each cylinder on top of the piston but the walls look good or at least what I see of them.

Number one is close. Those pistons are .05 under without any machine work. Idk if the block has been decked yet or not tho.

The piston head is not where clearance is measured. Don't sweat seeing the top rings. The piston SKIRT is where clearance is measured. Those also appear to be either heavy duty hydraulic, anti pump hydraulic, or solid lifters. I think you did real good! @MOPAROFFICIAL do those look like 2.02s to you or is it playin tricks on me?

Kevin, get us a really good shot of an intake and exhaust port. Lets see if the heads are ported.

Tricks indeed.
Looks are decieving though. The exhaust valves look after market...the intakes look stock. Check out the margin between if you can focus through the rust.
