Well...Pei, his wife and new son arrived home this evening. Pei came knocking on the door a short time later to collect his mail and packages. When I answered the door I recognized the “new baby” bewildered look in his eyes.
I just chuckled and gave him his stuff. He said that he was feeling out of whack but figured it would settle down in a week or so. I laughed out loud and said that it would probably take quite a bit longer than that. His eyes widened and I saw the glimmer of being overwhelmed again.
Don’t worry, I said. You will be fine and we are here if you need anything.
He visibly relaxed, smiled and then took his stuff back home.
I remember those days, and just knowing that there is someone out there who understands what you are going through and that you can call on for help is a huge mind relief..even if you never call on them.
Knowing that they are not alone is priceless for new parents and having neighbors that they know have their back adds even more comfort.
Changing the World isn’t hard...it just takes one small act of kindness at a time.
Cheers!
