A little fun in the sun today.

So today 5 of us local Mopar guy’s went on a 140 mile round trip to a little mining town called Bagdad.
No, not Baghdad Iraq.:D

Anyway, one of the guys brought the yellow Roadrunner that has the 572 with a 5 speed overdrive.
He and I had our cars, and the others were pickups with lightly built 440’s.
At one point the Roadrunner and I ended up as the first two cars at the red light of a busy intersection and I said “This has to bring back some nostalgic memories for some of these people” and he (Dan) laughed and agreed.

Light turns green and Dan nails it, so I did the same.
I heard his tires spinning when he banged second and when my 42RH hit second The rear of the car jumped up a couple of inches (snubber) and I came up beside him.
We both went into 3rd about the same time and my car went lean and sputtered with the AFR showing 22:1 (lean as hell) so I backed off.
I think the G’s overpowered my fuel pump output and starved it.
This is my daily driver, so it wasn’t built to be run wide open.
Maybe I’ll change the fuel system, maybe I won’t.
Who knows, after all it’s not intended to be a race car.

Now don’t get me wrong here, as I had no delusions that my cammed, 770 Street Avenger 5.9 Magnum was anywhere close to being able to take that 572 Hemi 5 speed.
I sent Dan a text earlier asking “so you were 1/2 throttle or what?”
BUT, a bit ago Dan texted me back that he figured I could probably take him through 1st and 2nd, but not 3rd and 4th.
That’s good enough for me. :D

Anyway, here’s a few pics of the cars and where we went for lunch in Bagdad.
A 50’s style diner made out of a train car.
