A 54 inch JD was $4800. The other brands weren't much cheaper. Big jump in price between the 48 and 54 inch deck.
I'm thinking with 2 acres plus what's the real difference and go with the smaller deck??

I mow between 2-3 acres, I recommend the 54", takes me two hours and I agree with Karl that it would be considerably longer with the 48". If you're considering JD try to get the endurance motor, it has a sleeve in the piston. I think I had to special order that model from Home Depot, 26hp I believe. I don't have a bagger, keep reading that they are just a pita, clog up and everything if all is not completely dry, dunno.
