Hydraulic Lifters

And for information's sake, I've also ordered a Comp 820-1 lifter to inspect it as well. It'll be a bit though, as the single lifter has to come straight from Comp. Although several vendors showed one in stock, true to form, that was not the case.
Don't get too anxious, it'll be 2 mos soon since Summit's "ship direct from" Comp, &they pushed it back 2 more wks last wk, to the mid of April for 1772 retainers....
small block & big block lifters are not the same, they will fit & operate the same but the "waist"cut-out is higher on the BB due to the position & size of the oil galleries, SB's have large galleries almost smack dab in the middle that typically get exposed at max lift by conventional rollers, there were only a couple of rollers with the body plunge-cut instead of pass-thru that hugged the wheel & could accept decent lift w/o bushing the bores or sleeving & peening the galleries(pittsburghracer had some pics of His block prep about a yr back). BB's have no such issue. I'm sure for stock apps & parts consolidation, some mfrs may put the machining somewhere "in the middle" of the lifter body. Yes, the pushrod cup ht was changed after '66 on BB's. Love to get an explanation from the engineers for that one...
