i purchased two more Barracuda parts cars and have started on dismantling one of them.

this black 68 Barracuda has a slant 6 and an auto trans. i have little experience with slant 6 engines and don't know where the numbers are on the block to determine which 6 model this was. any information would help me out. also - i think there is a torqueflite hooked up to this motor. if i remember, Plymouth only had one torqueflite trans in 68 that they used on everything. however, if there are numbers on the trans that can better identify it, please let me know about that also as all my cars are 4 speeds and i don't have much experience with automatics.

i have NO use for this slant 6 or the auto trans. so since i have to post a price, let's say $200.00 for both. i haven't pulled these out of the car yet but i can. also - i have NO idea what the condition is of this motor or the trans. you should buy these assuming you will have to rebuild both.

car is at my garage at Carnegie, Pennsylvania, 15106.

It has the long water pump bypass hose which means it's a tall deck RG block. Probably a 225, but possible it's a swapped in later 198......but doubtful. If you look behind and under the alternator, there is a small ledge of the block that sticks out right where the head meets the block that' probably like 4-5" long. It has a series of stamped numbers on it and the engine size will be there. Very probably a 225.

Here is the ID pad with the head removed, but it will be evident and readable with the head installed.

if the numbers on the pad behind the coil start with the letter B I'd be interested in the motor.[/QUOTE

hi valiantwagonguy... i will check on the engine code and post a pic here. we just got a dusting of snow here in Pittsburgh and it's cold. but it is suppose to warm up over the weekend so i'll take the cover off the car and look at the engine code.
