Not sure if you had any work done to the radio, but if it is original inside I believe the speaker should be 8 ohm not 4 ohm. Maybe cause you some output transistor problems down the road.

It's a factory replacement that Retro sells that's been updated with better materials for the speaker. The radio is a factory AM/FM unit. I don't know much about the internal workings of a radio.It plays pretty well. The radio is out of a 73 Duster but believe it's the same as what come in 71s..
