Hey every one it looks like I am going to be doing a 318 to a 360 swap in my 71 Dart Swinger. I saw somewhere on here that I would need a new flex plate because of going from internally balanced engine to an external one. Is there anything else that I need to consider/buy when doing this swap?

driver side motor mounts are different....harmonic balancer needs to be for a LA 360 externally balanced

yes....in the rear...either the flexplate needs to be for externally balanced LA 360 or the converter needs weights on it....One or the other....

Do I just need to get a new mount for the K-member and that would solve that problem?

Ask @moparmat2000 ^^^^^
He was just explaining this driver's side 360 to 318 k frame mount setup to another member just 15 minutes ago.

He has great pictures to explain what you need to do.

the bracket that bolts to the engine is not the same......they are getting hard to find and expensive....

or you can make one ...modify the old one...

318 LA and 318 magnum same on drivers side
360 LA and 360 magnum same on drivers side

318/360 LA and Magnum same on passenger side.

I believe you will also need a oil pan for the 360 in the above, possibly a pickup tube.

If you're going from a 2bbl to 4bbl, there are kickdown and throttle cable differences too.

Yes ^^^ and you got to have the 4bbl, that is more than half the fun opening up the secondaries on demand.

360 pictured here ^^^ with the Weiand 8022 Aluminum 4 bbl Intake.

Edelbrock 1406 600 cfm Electric Choke is a good fit for the 318s/360s, bolt on and go.

The 360s just pull a little more of the same volume.

Need this Edelbrock Mopar bracket to to work with the 4 barrel carb and the mopar kickdown linkage.

And here is a shortcut to get a 4bbl on to your 2 bbl intake manifolds, for those that like shortcuts. Factory 2 bbl manifolds are still the Dual Plane manifolds on the 360s.

Not to mention your cooling system may need a 7 blade clutch fan and shroud to help cool the more powerful 360.

Can’t l use the oil pan, pickup from the 318 that I’m taking out?

As mentioned you'll need the 340/360 drivers site motor mount, a 360 oil pan and a 360 flex plate. A milodon flex plate would probably be the easiest route.

I've used the B&M 10239 flexplate for this swap (keeping the internally balanced torque converter) & it works fine. there are 2 360 "center sump" pans that I am aware of (might be others), a 392 & the sump starts 4" back from a plumb line down from the front lip of the pan & an 876 pan & that dimention is 2" & the 392 will clear the rear edge of the kmember & the 876 may likely as well but no exp with it. the 876 pan requires the bottom curved pickup & the 392 pan requires the right angle (middle) one. disregard the top pickup. when the time comes I would compare the 318 one to those shown as you might be OK as is.

The 876 pan is from a '74-8 C-body. The 392 is the correct pan for A, B, E, and F, bodies.
