I am going to clean out my gas tank in my duster that has been sitting for years. There is no rust or anything inside except for some mud and varnish.
What is the best way to clean out a gas tank? I have heard vinegar works good but I am curious if you guys have any better homemade concotions.
Thanks.

i would just buy a new one. $80-100 bucks on ebay Varnish is a ***** to clean, end up spending $25-30 on mineral spirits and alot of time.

White vinegar straight works pretty good, need to let it soak a while, and it's cheap.

Get a length of chain about a foot or so long. Mix up a good strong mixture of HOT water and Dawn dish washing detergent. Dump it in the tank with the chain. Have a friend help and plug all the holes and you and your buddy shake the HECK out of the tank throwin the chain around in it all over. Literally rinse and repeat. That will clean it out GOOD.
