Funny thing is I never gave you crap about buying it. I just said I would pay that much because I don't think it's worth it. Then everyone and their brother came out of the woodwork to "defend" your decision when it wasn't needed. Good grief...

People are far to easily riled up around here.

It was worth it to me....that is all it matter....thanks

Ding, Winner. I think that was the basis for most of the commentary saying it was your choice. Excellent waste of money Tony.

Hell...If had went to Inido...I would had to buy you lunch again...and again...lol

Yeah, but it's SO worth it... Probably some free parts if you wanted them!

With the food I can't or not supposed to eat since the heart attack, I appreciate a good artery clogging meal every once in a while!

people would rather spend some money than take the time to build. Makes the world go round.

Yeah same as some people like orange cars and some like white ones. Everybody does things differently.

If I had the cash I’d buy one right now. I’m tired of making ****. I wanna be one and done.

Exactly. I made mine, but just because you can doesn’t mean you should. The time I spent building it could have been used to do other crap that needed to be done.

The other way to look at this, is the money you don't spend on something you can make, you can spend on something you can't, like engine parts etc.

To each there own...

=C

I agree. But I make way more money standing at the lathe or the mill. Or porting heads. I just did mine because I had all the crap here and I didn’t want to wait.

I too thought I needed one so me being me started building one. I bought all the metal, wheels, gauges, etc and welded it together. Then like a 200 other projects I thought I needed got it 85% finished and pushed it in a corner. I moved it from spot to spot for the next three years. Then I sold it for probably 70% of what I had in it. Me and my bright ideas. Lol. Now I have everything gathered for my next project. Look forward to someone getting a deal down the road.

Seems like when we get older, all those 200 other projects that come up become an issue. When I was younger I would just power through all of it get it done.

Now, I just come in and take a power nap.

I do have a new project coming up that will bump everything else right to the bottom of the list...

Not sure how old you are but thinking you are pretty close to me. Remember those jobs we took on with almost zero tools and starting a job and not stopping till it was done. When I was 17 I bought a 1964 or 1966 opel Cadet that had a Fred flintstone floor. With no way to cut or weld metal I bought an Oxyweld kit that you lit a pellet to braze. Somehow I cut the metal and brazed the whole floor in that piece of crap 50.00 car. Great memories. Lol

After driving it for several years I tried “killing it” and failed. Shifted it without using the clutch or held it floored while shifting. I mean I beat the piss out of it. I ended up taking it to the local junkyard a mile from my house. They took the seats out and used it for a yard cart for a long time. Thank God I remembered to take my FM converter out of it before I scraped it.

That was the problem...time

Made this one, about 80 bucks in metal, donor parts as in castors, HF engine stand and a old radiator. I cannot begin to tell you how much nicer it is to tune/trouble shoot an engine without bending over a car fender.

that’s a nice setup Dicer. Would you post some pics of the other side showing how you mount the starter?
Thanks!

I used a stock set-up, bell housing and flywheel, although a partial plate can be purchased to be used for the starter mounting w/o the bell housing.

I had a buddy that built a cheap engine stand. He used a block and tackle to lower it into the stand. He started the engine, let it warm up, and then cracked the carb to WOT. The engine wrapped up the chain to the ceiling. This same guy couldn’t stay out from the hood of his car, he wore the hood hinges out, and promptly welded the hood shut. He was so broke that he put 90w in the engine and used a torch to heat the oil pan.
