Hi thinking of buying car from A/B only what is the best way of sending payment? when should i ask 4 title any other suggestion will be appreciated

I only buy cars with cash in person or if they have been inspected with a bank transfer between accounts. Won't do it any other way...

Seller Feedback and Reputation go a long way tho...
If Your Seller has 30 comments and 1 Feedback that's not so good but
If They're a Well-Known Seller with alot of Good Feedback then tell us who they are and see if they'll take the Paypal Method.

There are escrow companies that will handle these type of transactions.

The way you are saying this it sounds like you are buying the car sight un seen and having it shipped.

If that is the case Caveat Emptor (Brady Bunch reference)

If not bring cash and do not leave without the signed title, bill of sale, photo of the sellers drivers license, smog certificate, safety cert or other of those type of documents you will need to get titled and registered in your state / county.

Also some states have an issue with vehicles that have not been titled to the person selling the car to you. (Original seller sells car to party A, party A does not title the car in their name, Party A sells car to you, you try to title the car and the gov says no way, seller is not the legal owner.)

You are buying it AS IS regardless of what anyone says, and get EVERYTHING in writing.

Good Luck

Protection did a wire transfer once and didn't go so good I only do Paypal or personnel check waiting till it clears -- yes there are protections with a personnel check I expect to be trusted just as much as the seller

I did not say wire transfer, I said bank transfer, big difference! Everyone is getting a 1099 from Paypal now, I am slowing down my dealings with Paypal, and if you do a large transaction, such as a vehicle, then you will owe more in taxes at the end of the year! I buy a sell a lot of cars, and only do to the two I said above now...

I sold my 66 Dart GT non running. I’m from Oregon to a member in New York. We talked on the phone for awhile then he sent me a personal check, he told me wait for it to clear. Once it cleared I sent him the title and he sent a truck to come pick it up. Worked out great id do it again without hesitation.

Unless the rules changed in order for paypal to be required to send a 1099, you have to have more than 20K in sales and in excess of 200 transactions.

Even if you get a 1099, you can hammer the number with the cost to purchase any item you've sold. Same as a business, you sell something retail and that is reduced by your wholesale purchase price of inventory.

I bought my '76 Duster about 1650 miles away on this site. I transferred money from my count to his. All I had is that it was a active count that was good for many years. I don't recommend this method at all, but the guy was honest and I received my car

First, you're not "buying a car from A-Body only", you're buying from an individual. As such, you should handle it that way. If you get ripped off, screwed nine ways to Sunday till your eyes fall out, it's got no reflection on this web site, so let's just end that right there.

That said, my advice is go see the car yourself, in person. That's what I did when a nice member here advised me of a car in my state on here for sale that I had not seen yet. I took a friend and like a couple of idiots, we pulled a trailer along. lol I wouldn't have Vixen today though had I not gone. I'm glad I did. Got to meet a cool member and make a new friend and of course end up with a super cool Valiant.

didn't know there was a difference can you dispute or call back funds using a bank transfer didn't know about the 1099 technically if we sell several items for a profit wouldn't that be considered a business tax man wants every penny they can get

Once you Wire Funds they are gone. Unless for some odd reason the receiving bank kicks them. Like the wiring instructions where
wrong.

have sold several cars this way usually someone comes in there are several honest appraisers out there they appraise the car report to the customer if a price is agreed on then they gave their bank info to my bank and my bank gives their bank my account info and they transfer the money to my account very safe way to purchase a car especially if the customer wants to be safe in their purchase hope this helps

See when you place a wire the money actually goes through the Federal Reserve then to the receiving bank. I've bought a couple cars this way and sold a couple.
Very easy. And safe.

I agree with above. Check, when it clears, send title. Then the truck can pick it up!
Sometimes the buyer/trucker will want the title with the car.

I have sold a couple cars through wire transfer which is the SAFEST WAY period. A deposit on 1 car was 10 % and a few weeks later the balance , then a trucking company came a few weeks later for the car (it went to Germany) another was $1,000 down through wire transfer and the guy drove here from North Carolina monday morning took one look at the car and called his bank to wire transfer the rest. All very smooth, very fast , and secure. The last one was a wire transferred deposit and the balance in person CASH.

Hopefully your not buying that b4 rusted up POS missing the 340/ trans and 8 3/4 they wanted $5500 for
