I think that is a 315 c.i. hemi.

I love the cars from the 50's. They are like no other. So much individual character in driving/handling from car to car. Even the dash, for instance, has more chrome, detail, creativity, and style than like no other era of car.

Dude, spot on. I love the speedometers in some of those letter cars. My favorite looked like a ships compass. It laid flat and turned like a record. Bad *** styling from when people were still Bad *** and drove things that were Bad ***...

Ok, didn't sit flat, but this is awesome...

That would be a fun one to restore!

Herb McCandless has a 61 or 62 Chrysler 300 that he put in a Gen III Hemi with fuel injection. He and his wife run the wheels off the thing, and you'd never know it wasn't a bone stock 300 till he pops the hood!

I did this one. Can't help myself on the poor boys. Had a 291 desoto hemi pushbutton. Sold it to a nice fella in Sacramento.

I’ve only ever found one hemi in a junkyard In all my searching and it looked very similar.

I wanted so badly to take it home but it was locked up solid and I already have too many projects.

I love the '50s cars. (And trucks)
They had the styling hands down of most eras.
What they didn't have for the most part (stock) was braking, handling, power, precise machining, and the fuel economy that we take for granted today.
Don't get me wrong, there were a few of special package cars built in that era, like the D500s and the fuelie Chevies, but for the most part, the engines were worn out at 60,000 miles and the rest of the car at 100,000 miles for the most part.
That being said, I love them for what they are.
My first love was a '57 Chevy 2 door followed closely by a 55 Chevy 2 door and a '55 to '57 Dodge with a Hemi.
They are just great cars...........
