Impacts are to left and high of bullseye. What way do you turn right turret to move reticle to left to align with impacts? Top turret direction to correct? Newb to scopes, my AN/PVS-4 was already BZO'd when I received it...

You need to look at the turrets, they will tell you which way to turn them to move the strike of the round. "Typically" down is counter clock wise and right is clock wise but it depends on the optic as some are opposite. Which ever way it says, that is the movement of the impact

what is the scope on?

(doesnt make a difference, but you're like the guys in the welcome wagon thread that dont post pics)

Benjamin Prowler .177, scope is a Tasco WC 3-9x40. Just found the manual online and it says "To move the bullet impact, turn the windage and/or elevation adjustments in the direction on the dials that corresponds to where the impact point falls on the target (for example, if test shots are hitting low, adjust elevation “down”). OK, I understand that the reticle moves to the impact, screw it in and it moves left ...These 5.4g pellets that Im using are not the most consistant so I was chasing the bull and I must have turned the turret in one direction and I got a errant round that screwed up my way of thinking this adjustment works. So I guess I have to move the side turret clockwise a few clicks (15 yard target, ill do the math for 1=1/4" at 100 yds) and the top one accordingly. Pic of turret is upside down, it is the side, not the top....

@70chall440 , can you site a scope that has the opposite change? I'd be interested in the logic behind that manufacturer, bucking a trend like that. Thanks!

Yes, the Leupold MK4 M3 originally had elevation turrets that went clockwise to elevate but then was changed to go counter clockwise. This was done because someone convince the company the when the shooter is making an elevation change (right handed) it would be easier.

There are others as well but this is the one that comes to mind. I have probably 50+ optics and next time I am in my gun room I will try and remember to take note. I have dealt with a wide array of optics (and firearms) for a long time and have seen some interesting things.

thats the one you dug up right?

how is it all working now...consistent?

Yup, wrestled that barrel into shape and now Im getting ~ 1" groups at 15m with 5.4g pellets. Should be a lot tighter with some heavies. Its pretty quiet with that full shroud on the barrel. Fun plinker! My 6 year old is using the BB gun next to me at same water jugs downrange and pictures of rats on cardboard boxes.

Here is Joshua with "the big gun" with old scope and Seth spotting for him. Safety was still on as he was just sighting in. I moved his face away from butt plate before he shot it. He liked the little BB gun better....

Looks like you found your answer already. You can always crank the adjusters one way or the other and send some rounds down range to see the outcome in your grouping. Sometimes I’ve had to max scope sights out to see a movement in the grouping. Sensitivity seems to vary.
