Rifle scope question

Benjamin Prowler .177, scope is a Tasco WC 3-9x40. Just found the manual online and it says "To move the bullet impact, turn the windage and/or elevation adjustments in the direction on the dials that corresponds to where the impact point falls on the target (for example, if test shots are hitting low, adjust elevation “down”). OK, I understand that the reticle moves to the impact, screw it in and it moves left ...These 5.4g pellets that Im using are not the most consistant so I was chasing the bull and I must have turned the turret in one direction and I got a errant round that screwed up my way of thinking this adjustment works. So I guess I have to move the side turret clockwise a few clicks (15 yard target, ill do the math for 1=1/4" at 100 yds) and the top one accordingly. Pic of turret is upside down, it is the side, not the top....
