1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

My popcorn is getting COLD!!!! ha
Yes it did sound pretty bad ***. we want to see it go!

We're gonna take it to Freddie's house in just a little bit. He has my base to the drop base air cleaner for another project. I need to see if it will clear everything on this and then I'll get a whole drop base air cleaner for it.

That sounds great. What do you have it idling at, rpm-wise? I can't wait to see the burnout video.

I don't even know. I would guess about 750. I just put it where it sounds good and doesn't want to cut off.

I just drove it down the road about a mile and came back. It's pretty impressive. Course you know, this is from a stone stock 170. But in its defense it was pretty peppy. This is entirely different though. When we run to Freddie's I'll get Kitty to shoot some video. The high gear pull is incredible. ...and I don't mean "for a slant". The car is actually fast now. lol

I lugged it petty hard in second and high and no sign of spark knock so that's a good thing.

^^^^^ No burnouts with a stock 7 1/4 rear end.

Otherwise we will be watching the next video of how to install an 8.8 into an early A.

Looking forward to the test drive . . .

That would be a Ford 9", actually. I have one narrowed to stock A body width. It's goin in with 4.10s when I get the 14s on it.

It feels strong enough to break loose from a roll.....if it will, we'll get video of that, but I'm not dumpin the clutch on that 7 1/4. Ain't no way. lol

Here we are goin to Freddie's. I've bumped it up about 5 more degrees since this drive. It seems to like it a lot. haven't driven it again since. We'll probably drive it to Gray tomorrow. That's about a 20 mile round trip.

Awesome job. Although I would expect nothing less from you. Cool car.

I need to come down and go for a ride. :D
As far as the TO bearing, I'll never admit to finishing a clutch job which upon start-up, reminded me I hadn't tightened the PP bolts.
Sounds great.

We took her into Gray this mornin. Bout 20 miles round trip. Did just fine. Still no audible spark knock with the timing kicked up, but it kinda acts like it has a little too much, so I am gonna back it back off a little and lock it down. It runs great though. Much better than I thought.

Rob,

Your roads are just as crappy! Ask me why I trailer some times!!!

Sometimes you just can't get 100 miles without pain!
