I wasn't the one who installed it so it is wrench tight. I notice rtv around that area so I think that is where my 727 leak is coming from and while I am at it, I figured I put the proper speedo gear in it to.

I use just a thin film of rtv where the large O ring around the housing contacts the trans case.
It’s not enough to see from the outside.
Hopefully who did yours was just a little rtv happy and there isn’t some issue they were trying to fix.
