What food can you get at 1am in your area

-
Burritos, nachos, McDonalds, White Castle, Sub Sandwiches, Denny's....

What is 1 am ?
Every once in a while I'll get up at witching hour 2:45ish & make myself a milkshake or a bowl of cereal & go back to bed.

What ever is in the pantry, lol. Nothing here for food for nearly 20 miles in any direction. Closest thing is still 6 miles during the day.

There is a local dive bar across from Norte Dame college in Indiana. On the wall outside it says “THE BACKER” but I think it is called The Linebacker. Since it’s a bar they are open late. They had a good French Dip sandwich. I was in that area for work and had several of those French Dip sandwiches. We were staying a hotel right across the street, so it was a short walk to The Backer. Good hotel too. I think it was the Ivy Court.
Been a few years now, but I still think about it sometimes. I wonder if it’s still as good as I remember?

just ate there Saturday

got Double Dip Beef, potato salad and macaroni salad

But what is this cheddar side you speak of

I likes cheese on my french dips which they dip before installation on the sandwich.
I keep Philippe's mustard here at the house.
The baked apples were the bomb also, but seldom did I have enough room for dessert
It'a a family tradition :D
My great grandmother, a professional cook, was appalled at the sawdust on the floors.
My mother got her a tour of the kitchen and she changed her attitude after seeing how sparkling clean it was.

my dad remembered when it was at the “other” location.

Even in the 1990’s he sore he remembered one of the counter girls from the late 40’s.

It is still on Alameda? Isn't it? I'd hate to have to go hunt them down

yes. was there Saturday.

Just looked this up... in 1951 they had to move because of the “new” Hollywood freeway. Sounds like it was in same general area.

It was an easy walk from the Federal Court House while I was on jury duty for a week there. I took full advantage of it

We have a 24-hour McDonald's.

Then we have a Cook-Out that is open until 2am. The food is awesome for being fast food. I drive past it after work around 1am and there is usually a line of vehicles around the building.

We have nothing that I can think of. We have a few 24 hour gas stations you could probably find something to eat. We have a sheets and waffle house in town that are "were" 24/7 but we now have a 10 pm curvew in town thanks to corona and our stupid governor! Out in the country where I am we don't have anything to eat after 10.

Man I love cookout I haven't had it in years. We Have one about 30 miles up the road its near the hospital, whenever my youngest boy was born I'd drive down and get a burger and shake. My youngest is 6 now I guess that's the last time I ate there. It was really good tho

Since COVID, some, not all, White Castles are open 24/7.
Waffle House is open to.
Say what you want about Waffle House, but I've never had a bad meal there and where else can you get a T-bone for under $10.

Absolutely nothing, unless its already in my fridge or pantry. Nearest town is 13 miles, and they roll up the sidewalks about 7:30

Nothing in my neck of the woods but Jack in the Box nearby. If you want to drive a bit you can find a Shari's (a downgrade from a Denny's).

@autoxcuda, I'm with you on Tommy's. I'd make a point to stop at there after a show in LA on the way home to Anaheim back in the day. So what is an OKI-DOG? I checked a few photos but it's not clear. Looks like a burrito with two dogs, maybe pastrami, and what all else?

Oki Dog Pico has these crazy odd combo burritos:

Oki Dog - hot dogs, chili, bacon, cheese, wrapped in tortilla like a burrito

Pastrami - Pastrami, egg, chili, bell peppers, cabbage?, Kim chi, fries?

Grand Beef - chili, ground beef, pastrami, cooked cabbage, mustard, pickles, cooked onions

Rolls make the cheese steak.
Yep, the water from the Delaware River makes some mighty fine pizza dough and rolls. lol
Nothing like a good Jersey pizza, hoagie or cheese steak and a Philly pretzel.

“What food can you get at 1am in your area?”

Anything!!!!!

With 3 diners within 15 minutes at a slow drive, a pizza joint, all fast rood joints, anything, except the Chinese are closed.
