Building a 400 block based 498 Stroker

If this is your first stroker build , i would go for the most complete kit i could find. To me, that means a balanced kit from 440 source. You will need to decide on your cylinder heads first, to get the compression ratio you want, and what overbore to run.
Your 499 ( most round up to call it 500 inches) is 4.375 bore (a common and available ring size, much easier to find than .030 or .040 over's) and a 4.15 stroke.
Same bore size with a 4.25 stroke is 511, 040 over 4.38 bore with 4.25 is a 512.
