1963 Dart 170 2 Door Post Resto
Well, a little forward, a little backward yesterday. Got the car all sanded and ready for the 2K primer. Cleaned and cleaned and cleaned again to make sure no dust this time. Mixed up the 2K and started to spray. Roof went ok, drivers side came next and gun started acting up a little giving me a few runs I wasn't totally happy with (spraying light to spraying heavy...must have had a slight blockage). Then on the passenger side it got even worse. Spitting a bit and not laying down very nice.
Got it all done, but will require a little more patience sanding it out as there's a little texture to how it laid out. Block sanded the roof (found a few minor imperfections that the 2K showed and filled) and the pillars and resprayed the roof after a good thorough gun cleaning and setup again. Much better this time, laid out better than it has so far, including the epoxy.
I figure a good block sanding and a couple more coats of 2k and another block sand and I should be putting it in sealer hopefully by mid week next week. Then the decision on whether or not to put color on the interior myself or wait to have a shop do it all. If I do it, it allows me to have the car more assembled when going for final exterior paint, thus less chance of scratching anything during reassembly. Also allows me to get the door hinge area good before doors go back on and access is limited without removing front fenders. Downside is a shop will most definitely do a better job being setup better for it. Less chance of runs and or imperfections getting into the paint.
