I'm replacing the fuel line from here to boat motor. Approx 6'. Can I use a stainless gear clamp instead of this style?
Thanks
Steve

No reason why you cant. The advantage of the Oetiker clamp is that once installed it shouldn't come loose.

Sure, why not. Just don't over tighten and cut the hose. EFI hose clamp would be even better IMO.

Just be careful if the clamp is in a bad place that you have to reach past. I have never been cut up by that style of clamp. But I sure have with a spiral gear clamp.

Thanks guys, wasn't sure if there was a specific reason why I couldnt(possible clamping force/psi issues).
Yes to getting goùged with spiral gear clamps lol. I've donated my share of flesh to those!

Use the EFI clamp as previously stated Steve (stainless if you can find it). And, get good quality marine hose.......It's about 10 bucks a foot, but stands up so much better. You don't want to deal with a fuel leak on a fishing trip.

BTW...If you are getting a primer bulb as well, don't get Sierra. I find that they harden up pretty quick. You get what you pay for. Good luck.

I go to the local Picky Pull and grab a couple of German hose clamps of various sizes. The benefit is that they don't cut the rubber hoses.
Plus they have little BMW Mercedes or Audi logos etched into them.

Nice setup! Yes there is the plastic quick clips on this one too. Been puttering getting our Lund ready. Mines got the fuel hookup in same spot as yours. You happy with track setup on yours? I just bought some Cannon track, gotta figure out where I want it put yet.
That a downrigger in back corner?
**edit** I see the rod holder now.
All Lund uses is plastic quick click clamps..

Just another Salty to hold a Musky rod in the prop wash.. Full pursuit tracks, so I can set up anything I want... even lunch. I Musky fish the back yard here from about October first until I have to break the ice at the ramp, planner mast for BOQ wet socks and downrig for Lakers on Temagami..

I custom ordered mine in September 2006 for the 2007 model year. Now 14 years old, still looks the same other than a few scratches and thankfully the dozen LUND badges peeled off the seats, dash, side locker doors.. lol

Yeah this one is an 05 and hardly a mark on it. Dealer I bought it from had sold/resold it 3 times since new. Very little use. No kicker but the 90 has a nice troll speed to it, or elec troller up front.

Perfect, still a flat gunnel. They f'd them up before that and after mine with a stepped gunnel that you can't mount track to. Make sure you put backer plates underneath when mounting them..

Steve, you could actually use a plastic zip tie on it.

Yes, good point. I just ran led strip lights tonight for the bow floor right under the gunnel on both sides. Nice easy access to run them. About 6' short to do foot area for both front seats. See what Amazon has. Had to replace front wood platform where trolling motor mounts. Gotta put supports under there too.
Still needs a stereo. They can be had pretty cheap tho. But the list goes on and on lol. Hey at least it's got a full tank of fuel lol.

Thanks Rob, actually on the other end of the last fuel line is a plastic zip tie. I was actually able to borrow the crimp tool for the Oetiker clamp from a buddy at work. Just gotta buy right clamps.

Aba clamps are great. Run them on my cuda for 10 years now. Never an issue. Never had to re-tighten one.

but they don’t make them that small

Crimp clamps give a uniform grip. Oetiker is a popular brand

Went and got these today. Had to wait in line outside so I took them even though it says for Pex. Worked perfect. Replaced the zip tie also lol.
Now onto mounting the Cannon track.
How far back to the stern should I mount it? I will OCCASIONALLY have a downrigger mounted in the rear most part of the track. I may fish 2-3 times a year with the trigger. You can see that there is limited access to the gunnel. I can access it by opening the storage door, but its next to impossibleto get all the way back to the stern. Track is 36" long.
I will use support plates underneath as @dadsbee suggested.
Thanks
Steve
