HOUSE OF KOLOR BASE COAT (thumbs down)

Big problems with cars today. The UV rays from the sun can penetrate through the color if there isn't enough base coat. When that happens the primer oxidizes and paint starts pealing. Car dealers are aware of this so they use just enough to get past any warranty .

A lot of the issue is the amount if voc that is allowed to enter the atmosphere from the factory. They limit this so the color coat is extremely transparent. Watch a Gm vehicle drive by sometime.... white tri coats especially. You can see vertical stripes in all of them. We don't spray until coverage anymore. We spray to match. Which is transparent with the correct undercoat. It takes a different thought process and application technique. Most painters fail this, over applicate and can't understand why their colors are always dark.
