What happens to an engine during a cold start in sub-zero temperatures?

This is for all you 20/50 lovers

I still love 20w50 Racing oil. I was smart enough to follow temp recommendations and run 10w30 in 0 down temperatures. I won't run anything lighter than 10w30.
