Am I justified in my frustration?

I have to say and you know I hate to say it honestly but I think I'd be pretty pissed off and feel disrespected if someone even offered to sell me something and such mystery condition and so fucked up that you couldn't even get an axle out of it pulling it with a ******* half ton truck or the other and attached to a 40 year old tree trunk bigger than your fat mama.

I think the seller should just refund and take the rear end back n prove the buyer Wrong by actually disassembling it and proving it on this site by making a threat and picture showing so that it's still usable.

We may say 'as is' we may say 'take it or leave it' we may argue it's his or their fault 'you looked at it ..it's your money..you made the choice n yadda yadda **** you etc..'
But that doesn't keep stuff like this from happening. If you sell stuff in that condition ...it would be impossible to explain how you can guarantee it rebuildable in it's entirety.
So here we are...8 pages and no one is satisfied, what a waste. Should just close this thread if it's at a stalemate.
Refund or move on.

We all make mistakes. He's doing all he knows to do......and I cant think of anything else. If you cannot, don't bash what he's trying to do.

If that junk was mine, It'd go into the scrap pile, because what he's doing IS dangerous now and crosses the line at what I consider safe for my well being. I could just see that axle flying out of the housing right through the rear window of his truck.

If you re-read what I typed, you would see I don’t bash his method. I point out his method is dangerous. Are you going to disagree the colour of the truck that was used to attempt to pull the axle was white? A fact is a fact. White truck? Yup! Dangerous method to pull the axle? Yup!

He lashes out by calling folks “turds” for something that is obviously dangerous. Why are we turds? Are we turds for thinking the truck is white?

If he bought it from someone he didn’t know it would still be “as is”. And that’s what it should be. As is.

He can cut the end off. I doubt it’s stuck in the side gear like that. Cut the end off and see if it comes apart. If it does you can weld a new end on it and send it.

EDIT: from the video it looks like that’s the side with the adjustable bearing. Cut the end off.

I was merely pointing out that it's not constructive to criticize without offering an alternative method? How would you try to get it apart?

I don't know what every one is complaining about. He's found the Holy Grail of rear ends. Impossible to break!!! OK sure, it maybe it's completely and utterly unusable. But I still see a challenge. Rail yard between two trains. Army post between two tanks. Hell there is probably even a fat lady joke in here somewhere but I will refrain.

Can I take this in a different direction.
Let's say you bought a car from a member here.
Killer deal. Car arrives as advertised. Running car.

You sell off most of the parts.
Then let it sit outside for a few years.
Original owner asks to buy it back.
Car is in poor condition. Water damage, cracked heads no antifreeze, did I mention it sat outside.
Original owner still takes it back for more then he sold it for.
Now I'm not saying it was a smart move.
But would you have sold it back for more after you sold off the interior and some high priced NOS parts.
And considered that a profit.
Or get as much as you can, considering you call the original owner a friend.

Did the “you” tell the buyer all that was gone and the current conditions or did the “you” cover it up?
 
I don't know, however as the details slowly come out I strongly doubt it.
I bought the engine with the cracked heads.
Buy back guy went thru engine, it was just rebuilt. Replaced the heads.
I still have an I'll feeling about using this motor.
Something about having something powering my car that a dirty guy had. Even if he never drove it.

Either way, the “you” in this is scum if he deliberately withheld information and overcharged the original owner with the original owner made to believe he was getting the car back in exact condition as when sold.

turning a profit is one thing, covering up or lying to make said profit is a completely other thing.

Engine is fine....now....
 
Don’t get me wrong, I have no issues with turning a profit. Hell I just turned 500 bucks for an engine I bought into 2500. But I didn’t strip it of its internals, sit it outside to fill with water and then hide it from the buyer and sell is as complete in good condition either.

furthermore I had a very generous gentleman on this forum give me a heck of a deal on a 3rd Gen hemi. Very very very good deal. That engine will not be sold to anyone for that very reasons. It’ll either go in my Jeep, or I may donate to the build of a 48 dodge coupe my local car club is building for a disabled combat Army vet. But there will be zero profiting off it.

some people have better ethics than others I suppose
 
I dunno, these days buying used parts that need rebuilt is a gamble...win some, lose some. These parts are 50 plus years old in some cases and sat dormant for how many years out of the 50...
