So, had a little hiatus from the car for a week or so. During the cleaning process had a fleck of metal flick back at me and get under my safety glasses and into my eye, requiring a trip to hospital to get it removed. Then a trip to optometrist to get it properly removed (doctor apparently was NOT an eye specialist at all. She used drops in my eye to "freeze" it. Felt it. Used more...still felt it. One more time...Still felt it, so she went ahead and used a swab to remove it...hurt like heck). Found out when I made an appointment with my optometrist a few days later (got metal out but still had to be cleaned up better), that the drops she kept trying to freeze my eye were for dialating my eye and do nothing for pain...go figure. Any way, had to keep away from dust for a few days while it healed up. That pretty much killed any work on the car for the week.
That and kinda went WAY off plan and bought another project that wasn't supposed to happen until this one was completely finished. Couldn't pass it up as it was so rust free and the price was right. My wife has always wanted a classic truck. I wound up finding a 51 or 52 International (at my brothers place so I haven't confirmed year yet...and yes I know, not mopar...forgive me as I have never been brand loyal, just like what catches my eye, regardless of make). Truck is 1/2 ton long bed with zero rust and has never been messed with. Plan is once the Dart is finished to roll this one in and start on it. Wife is adamant to have her hands in this one. Any way...back at the Dart
Back at it and got the outer panel epoxied. Only needed a couple small dings touched up and went to high build. Got the 3 panels all block sanded, resprayed and hand sanded ready for sealer. Hoping to get sealer on them in the next couple days. Looking super smooth. Please with how they came out. Once in sealer I plan to let them cure a couple days and flip them again and apply color and clear to the inners. Then back to the main body and hand sand the final high build coat, apply sealer and do the same for color with the trunk, inside and jambs. If they come out decent, I will decide if I want to try my hand at a full body spray. Gotta start sometime right? Have done lots of primer sprays, and one tack coat in color but never did a full respray. Picked up a top quality gun for a great price so that should help. Time will tell.
