What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Truth be told, I only asked to drive it to make you feel good about yourself

Although, I do have a full set of nuts allready
Due to family health issues this will not get done this Summer. No biggie. I'll pick up again in the Fall.

All the parts came in this week to finish the bucket seat swap... USCT connectors, new carpet kit, metal plate for the bucket seat bracket reinforcements.
(Rock Auto box is rotors for a brake job on the DD).

Tightened the bolts on the cross member for the transmission and then aligned the transmission and bolted it to the cross member. Installed a new mini starter and connected the positive battery cable to it. It's really starting to come together nicely. Getting excited to get the underneath stuff done so I can go up top and finish the engine compartment.

First coat of primer. First ever painting. Ugh. Dropped onto it from the 3m psp adapter that I did not have on tight. A couple more coats and I will sand the drips smooth, guide coat and then seal tonight. Tomorrow I will final paint, satin black.

Snuck in 10 minutes a car and took the play out of both the Bee and Darts steering boxes. The Bird P/S mess might take a bit longer. Gotta get it done this week, so we can do a Father's Day cruise with the kids and F-in-law.

I wish it was water. It’s red and clear and coming from the bellhousing. Not the way I wanted today to end, but hey, waddya gonna do??

I'm going to say clean the driveway first. :)
You’re actually right!! I’m gonna pull her off to the side and gather my thoughts - cleaning the driveway while I’m at it.

Is there an easy way to do the front pump seal? I know the trans needs work, and I’m going to be swapping headers, so maybe I should just pull the motor/trans and be done with it?

your wife is going to say clean the driveway first. :)
FTFY :)

Today I drove the Dart to the (33rd Annual) West Plains Car Club show at the Civic Center. Well over 100 cars, even a few Mopars! Some interesting, some... weird. It was 90F but at least there was a breeze. Still hot on that parking lot though...and in the car with no a/c...

I think it’s cool that you took the time to take photos of the non-Mopars, and even some you might think are weird. The owners have spent thousands of hours laboring over them, just as we do ours, and they’re very proud of their rides. Doesn’t matter if it’s your cup of tea or not, I think they deserve respect.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, certainly.
I just hope that wasn't an original '70 Z28 that found itself atop a four-wheel-drive.

Haha, I agree. I’ll just tell myself that they had nothing left to do with it, and that it was either that or the scrap yard…

But ya have to admit, you don’t just wake up one morning thinking you’re gonna make a Z28 4x4, and by 5pm you’re done. That had to have been a lot of work!

Had a buddy over Tuesday night, he brought a former co-worker of his who is a true Mopar nut. He went over my shitbox pretty thoroughly, and he told me that either cylinder 6 or 8 was likely the cause of the piss poor power from my 360. He has built and tuned racecars, mainly for dirt track racing for decades.
Today I did a compression test, and he's bang on. Cylinder 8 was only 110 psi, cylinder 6 was 125 psi, and cylinders 1 and 7 are 150 psi. The other 2 on the passenger side are 130, and the driver side are 135 and 140. Guess I will be pulling the head off the passenger side. Checked the cam lift, and it is good. Oh well.

Did he do a compression test as well? Or how did he come to that conclusion?

He was working with the timing using a dial back timing light, and the checking voltage to the ignition system, I did the compression test today, but we could hear it snapping back through the carb at higher rpm.

I finally got the gaskets in the valve covers. The FelPro high heat gaskets don't have ears on them so I had to zip tie them until the sealer set up. Got them installed, and touched up the paint. It looks like an engine again.

Got the Distributor and Oil Pressure line and Plugs installed today. Not a lot. But Family health issues is keeping me busy. I'm still ok with ultra slow progress.
