Did some quick google searching. I thought maybe that was an old standard size. Does not seem to be the case. They could have been made as pavers. But also found their was a tax on bricks pre 1850. Because it was charged per brick they made bigger bricks... Also- fun fact-McAvoy is in Phoenixville and still in business
